This was a Halloween ride right? Here's my costume.
That pesky Adam Benedetto brought a beautiful banner along for the
ride.
Another costume.
It wouldn't be a Halloween ride without treats.
About 40 riders showed up tonight.
Another angle on the mass
What are we?
Two bicyclists becoming traffic.
Another costumed masser. Can you guess who this is?
Riding along the outer loop
The Police took a more active role in the ride this month. Early on
we were warned by the Police that they would be issuing citations.
Getting ready to make a right on John Nolan. |
Part of the celebration on John Nolan
Just before Olin park, bicyclists cut across the median and
regrouped across the street.
Massers lingered for a while, trying to decide how to proceed.
Finally, the mass got onto John Nolan again and headed back toward
the capitol.
A few more squad cars, some crossing the median themselves, joined
the celebration as we headed back into town.
Hmm.. So far, no citations... Did the police make an idle threat?
Me, overindulging in some of the features of my camera...
Not long after this point in the ride the Police left the
celebration.
Plastic man and the mysterious pumpkin rider...
Dude in a blue bear suit.

This masser started a discussion at the end of the ride. He was
concerned with how the mass was handling red lights. The classic argument
between the "if the front goes through on green, the rest go through no matter
what color the light is (for our safety)" camp and those subscribing to the
belief that "breaking the law isn't going to get us bicyclists any respect from
motorists" broke out. As usual, no point of view prevailed.
The best way to get the ride to behave the way you want is to convince a bunch
of people who share your view to go on the next ride. See you all on Friday,
November 29th at 5:30pm!
