The MPD showed up right at the beginning. This officer was
explaining how they were going to handle the ride.
One of the many mobile messages on the ride.
A more direct message.
Off we go around the Capitol Loop.
More of the loop
Heading down East Washington. Despite what the officer suggested to
the group, participants chose to take up all the lanes on East Washington.
Further down East Wash. Eventually we turned on Wright Street. The
MPD corked for us at major intersections, including Highway 30.
We ended up at the National Guard building on Wright St, then
decided to take the Starkweather Creek Path.
The Police lost us for a bit, but soon were driving behind us on
the bike path.
Yes, the bridges along the path are designed to carry the weight of
a Police car... They are actually designed to carry the weight of a snow plow -
which is good because that means the city can clear the path!
As the path closed in on Aberg Avenue, bicyclists migrated from the
path to the road.
The Mass approaching Shopko Drive...
Waiting at the light on Aberg and Shopko...
Further down Aberg, heading for N. Sherman. The mass headed into
Maple Bluff and went to the Governor's Mansion.
Back onto Sherman, Fordem, and finally onto Johnson. The Police
re-routed motor-vehicle traffic from Johnson to Washington at the Baldwin St.
Intersection. Still, there were plenty of cars backed up behind the Mass.
My tire was going flat so I left the group near the Capitol...
