Hold up at the corner of Williamson & Riverside which is notorious for Motor-Vehicle red-light-running, and was especially dangerous during construction this summer.

A nice leisurely ride down Monona Drive. Upon entering Monona, bicycling becomes illegal on a sidewalk, but the road lanes are not wide enough to accomodate safe passing of bicyclists by Motorists. There was an agreement between Madison and Monona that bike lanes would eventually be put in, but local merchants are complaining that bike lanes would take away car parking spaces.

It appears that Cars=Customers to these merchants. Hopefully they will someday realize that bicyclists are also potential customers.

The Bike Recovery Van that was dispatched to handle the possible pick-up of a large number of bicycles. Martin overheard the arresting officer request a city bus be used to haul in all the riders. Fortunately, his request was denied.
