An unmarked Police car watched the Mass gather, then leapfrogged the cyclists several times during the ride.
It appears that Kevin has grown some horns since the last ride. This will come in handy for the Halloween ride next month!

By the way, the next ride is on Friday, October 26th. Meet at Capitol Square and West Washington at 5:30pm - in costume!

Kevin and his horns in motion.
A shot of the whole group stopped at a light in Capitol Square.
The Mass heads down East Washington.
The Mass passing by on East Washington. Two more Police cars were tailing us at this point. The Police cars are just barely visible in back of the cyclists
More of the Mass passing by.
Heading back up Gorham St.
The Police are still tailing us, but at quite a distance.
Cresting the "Hill" on Gorham St.
The back of the Mass cresting the "Hill".
Meet Car 106.
And here we have car 677
677, 106, and their nemesis: Critical Mass. I wonder how many cars are speeding along East Johnson right now...
This guy told me: "I ride my bike a lot and I don't want to live in fear of cars all the time."
According to this woman "We Are Traffic" has been rented regularly from Bongo Video since it was put on the shelf. It must be pretty good huh?
One cyclist's "non-verbal statement" about why he rides in Critical Mass.
These women were discussing bicycle issues during the ride. Critical Mass is a great facilitator for this kind of dialog among cyclists.
Heading back up West Washington near the end of the ride.
This cyclist thanked me for riding with him, and I thanked him for riding with me. Critical Mass is also a great way for cyclists to be part of the cycling community.
The infamous Tim Wong, former chairman of the Pedestrian-Bicycle Subcommittee (Which later morphed into the Pedestrian-Bicycle-Motor Vehicle Commission or PBMVC ), and outspoken bicycle advocate. Tim tells me that in a town the size of Madison, one person can really make a difference in the quality of bicycling.

The next meeting of the PBMVC is October 4th at 5:00pm, in room 260 of the Madison Municipal Building, located at 215 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. Come and fight The Highwaymen!
